| 'High School' Cast Graduates After Big-Screen Sequel | ||
|
SALT LAKE CITY — School's out for summer. Out for good, actually. At least for Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Monique Coleman, Corbin Bleu and Lucas Grabeel — the six principal players in Disney's High School Musical franchise. Shooting just wrapped for their big-screen grand finale, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, due Oct. 24. While a fourth film is in the works, no one expects the primary players to return. But for much of the spring and summer, the actors were together again at East High, where the original Disney Channel movie took off in 2006 and became a pop culture sensation, fueled by drama and dance numbers from Efron and Hudgens' sweethearts Troy and Gabriella; their pals Bleu and Coleman; and twin rivals played by Tisdale and Grabeel. | "Identified" Album Review
|
Give High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens credit for confounding critical expectations on her sophomore release — even if it's just for a single song. "Last Night" sounds like the work of a different artist than the Disney Channel icon; the Scott Jacoby-produced track is a surprisingly mature blues-pop number that inspires an equally gritty vocal performance. It might have been a great jumping-off point for more surprises, but the remainder of the disc is formulaic teen fare — sometimes charming, as on the discofied single "Sneakernight"; occasionally club-happy and tuneless ("Hook It Up"); overall catchy enough to ensure it'll survive a summer in heavy rotation before being discarded. None of it tries too hard to prove Hudgens' sophistication — which is to be expected, given the gargantuan presence of "HSMIII" on the horizon, and probably wise, following the nude photo flap surrounding Hudgens that has since died down. As a placeholder for Hudgens' future career, "Identified" serves its purpose, even if it's seldom identifiable as her own work. Once she's free of the High School Musical franchise, here's hoping she picks up where "Last Night" leaves off. By Maddie on July 6, 2008 |
| Vanessa's Future Work With Zac | ||

Vanessa Hudgens says she wants to work with boyfriend Zac Efron again in the future. Vanessa -- who starred alongside Zac in Disney's High School Musical -- says she wouldn't rule out teaming up with her boyfriend again later in her career. She explains, "No-one says it's the last time we work together -- who knows what the future will bring?" 19-year-old Vanessa -- who plays Gabriella Montez in the hit show -- also said she and Zac stay "focused" during the filming of the intricate dance sequences for the movie. She added to People magazine, "We're very focused as dance partners. We want to get it right and we have so much fun together that even if things do get difficult, we still try to churn it out and have fun with it." However, Zac -- who stars as Troy Bolton in the films -- revealed it is Vanessa who helps him with the complicated routines. He added, "Vanessa's definitely the stronger dancer. If I forget the next move, she'll lead me. We have to help each other, that's what we do." Source: Showbiz Spy By Maddie on July 6, 2008 |
| Vanessa Hudgens: "Zac Showers!" | ||
|
Yes, but does he use a loofah? In a recent interview with Newsweek.com, High School Musical starlet Vanessa Hudgens comes clean, so to speak, regarding the rumors that her costar and beau Zac Efron has a slight aversion to bathing. "He showers! He showers! Believe me, he does," insists Vanessa. "Whoever came up with that is completely idiotic." Slightly less idiotic is... Disney's decision to capitalize on the juggernaut that is High School Musical, with the third installment currently in production. And while Vanessa does reveal that her HSM character gets accepted to Stanford, she won't go so far as to divulge what happens to the others. "That much I can't give away," she says. "But, of course, we don't all go to the same school." Source: E! Online By Maddie on July 6, 2008 |
| Vanessa & Zac Say No To HSM 4 | ||

Movie hunk Zac Efron and his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens have delivered a blow to Disney – they're refusing to work on a fourth sequel to the monster film hit High School Musical. However, it's not all bad news as they will be starring in the third version of the movie, High School Musical 3: Senior Year, set for release later this year. Fans were led to believe the movie would be the final episode but now Disney has revealed plans are well underway for another film, with a script already being penned. (Read More?) | HSM3's Pizza Party

Celebrity starlets, they're a lot like us. The rehearsing cast of High School Musical 3 took a snack break at local Salt Lake City pizza parlor Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana last Tuesday, E! News has learned. Disney stars Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens patronized the joint and split a margherita pizza and salad, with the total bill coming to less than $20 bucks. And according to Mike the manager, the girls left a very generous tip, doubling the actual bill. "They were supernice and generous and left a big tip. Really big. Really nice of them." OK, so maybe they're a little like us... but a lot more generous! Source: E! Online By Maddie on April 12, 2008 |
